Universiti Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU) is a public university in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. It was established on November 19, 1973, as IAIN SU, and has been known as UINSU since October 16, 2014.
UINSU's institutional vision is to be a 'Smart Islamic University' with a motto that emphasizes the integration of knowledge and Islamic values. The Rector, Prof. Dr. Nurhayati, M.Ag., also emphasizes the importance of harmony between knowledge and adab (manners) in the academic environment.
UINSU, in collaboration with Jamiyah Singapore, provides opportunities for students from Singapore to deepen their Islamic knowledge. Since 2013, Jamiyah Singapore and UINSU have been offering Islamic studies programs to the Singaporean Muslim community.
